Why Is It Important To Maintain An Acid/Alkaline Balance?
Today, many Americans have a diet and lifestyle that has become extremely acidic. The foods we eat on a regular basis are acid-forming, such as pasteurized dairy products, poultry, meat, trans fats, cooked oils, baked goods, and refined sugars. Even most of the beverages we are drinking lead to acid in our bodies. Beverages such as coffee, tea, pasteurized juices and milk, and carbonated drinks are very acidic.
The lifestyle habits we have are also acid-forming. We ingest pharmaceutical drugs, alcohol, and stimulants. Stress and anxiety are also very acid-forming. Pollution, household chemicals and even aging are external factors that lead to an acid buildup in our bodies.
As a general rule, acid substances tighten; and alkaline substances relax. Minerals are alkaline because they relax the body from tightness, tension, stiffness and spasms. Due to the alkalinity of minerals, they loosen toxic tissues in the body and cause them to release their toxins. Eating fruits and vegetables is the best way to obtain a large amount and variety of alkaline minerals on a daily basis.
Acids tend to accumulate in the body’s injured tissues and weakest and most devitalized joints and organs because the blood supply to these areas is usually compromised and the immune cells typically incapacitated.
Some health conditions have been linked to acidity: osteoporosis, arthritis, cardiovascular disease, lowered immunity and more!
The more alkaline you are the less inflammation in your body!
Easy Ways To Becoming More Alkaline
1. First, know what your Acid / Alkaline number is by doing a saliva pH test.
2. Increase your fluid intake (Hint: half your body weight in ounces of fluids per day!)
3. Try eating a diet that contains 80% alkaline foods and only 20% acidic foods by working your way up to 10+ servings of veggies & fruit daily (more veggies than fruit!)
